Incredible Hush Puppies Made Easy




Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 3/4 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 white onions (Minced) or 1/2 yellow onion (Minced)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro (Chopped Fine)

  • 2 garlic cloves (Minced)

  • 1 dash ground black pepper

  • 1 dash table salt

  • 1 egg (Beaten)

  • Directions:

    1.  
      Whisk together dry components first, then add the remaining ingredients, and mix thoroughly.
    2.  
      Heat frying oil to 360°F.
    3.  
      Scoop "Tablespoon" sized portions into the hot oil.
    4.  
      Cook until golden brown or 2 1/2 minutes (be careful NOT to overcook, hushpuppies become really hard).

      Remove from the hot oil and drain on paper towel and/or brown paper bag.

      I did this recipe multiplied by 5!  Crunchy Golden Goodness...Enjoy

    1. I cook this recipe for hushpuppies all the time ... they are so good and crunchy .


      I use boiling hot water instead of milk ... It makes the hushpuppies soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside .
