Greetings my cubs, Thank you so much for the note and the love. I will write you a note tomorrow. I am back home but think I may have to leave again in a few days. I am just going to leave my suitcase packed. I'm just a bit tired right now but will tell you all about it tomorrow. Love Aunt Jeannie
Merry Christmas my Cubs and please include Chris, Sheryl and Bubba. Well it is very cold in Canada tonight and the snow is falling heavily and it is very quiet out there in the snowy night. The moonlight is sparkling on the snow like a Christmas card. It is very pretty. But I am cozy and warm by the fire and that is where I am staying. So have you all been good kids this year??? I will bet my last loonie ( Canadian dollar)that you have all been angels. No...I think I might lose that bet. But I think you have all been pretty good. So you deserve a great Christmas, lots of fun, tons of great presents and fabulous Christmas treats. As for me and Uncle Brian, The only Christmas wish we have is that these gosh-darned mites would disappear and give us our home back. They are messing up our Christmas. We can't have any people come over. It would be very embarrassing if someone got mites in their pants sitting in the armchair by my fire. I have to admit I might laugh when they jumped three feet into the air and started scratching their butt. I have a weird sense of humor. But it would really be humiliating if I gave them a piece of Christmas cake and a couple of mites were ice-skating on the frosting. It takes months to get rid of these little guys and you have to work at it every day, scrubbing, spraying insecticides and steam cleaning everything. We figure it will be some time in January before we can relax and be sure we are mite free. They are very persistent and the only way to beat them is to kill them faster than they can reproduce and that is difficult. Apparently, climate change has brought this species of mites north, since our winters are very mild now. They are aggressive and we are not allowed to use strong poisons like you are in the USA. Sooo, Man does not like girls to kiss him. I think that will change and he will be sorry he missed out on a lot of kisses...Hahahaha! I think Jonny could set him straight. I know you guys still miss Poppa. When my dad died, it was close to Christmas and that was the hardest, saddest Christmas I ever had. But it got better and better after that. I won't be sad this Christmas. I am lucky I have so many people who love me and care for me. My family have all invited us to their homes for Christmas. I don't know who to accept and I don't want to offend anyone. But we will have a super time and Uncle Brian will be so stuffed with treats and sweets he won't be able to walk. We decided to have our own Christmas party as soon as my house is mite free, even if it is July. In the meantime, we are considering having a party at the hotel. The food won't be as good but we will make do. I bet your daddy wrote a lovely letter to Poppa. I know it will make Mama cry so have the Kleenex ready. You might get a bit teary eyed too. Poppa was right you know...there are always people worse off than we are. Today I donated food and Christmas goodies to the food bank and I will do it again next week. I hate to think of kids in our town not having enough to eat on Christmas. We used to help collect toys so less fortunate kids would get something to play with but these days it seems more important to make sure they have food. Well my luvs, I will say goodnight and crawl into my cozy bed with the fleecy sheets and hope a few mites have not decided to join me. At least they don't snore. I will write again soon and please write me any time. I will answer when I can. Take care of each other Cubs. Lots of love and hugs Aunt Jeannie
